It accommodates a half-size pan and has a recessed ceramic tray that catches messes, and its unique energy distribution system increases the uniformity of the heating pattern. The door is designed to support heavy use and has a comfortable lift-and-pull handle. Because the door has a tempered window, operators can monitor cooking food in the illuminated cavity.

The controls for this Amana MDC182 microwave oven are designed to facilitate operation. Users can set the microwave to run for as long as 60 minutes, and at the end of the cycle, an audible signal alerts operators. It has 11 power levels and 100 programmable menu items for the most common products. The keypad features Braille touch pads.
